Catherine spent years building a loyal and engaged community, who have followed and shared her creative journey to date. With a talented team of brand ambassadors, over 63k YouTube subscribers and over 40k followers on both Facebook and Instagram, her global following continues to flourish. It is this close connection to crafters worldwide that fuels Catherine’s passion to deliver new and exciting products into the creative industry and the partnership with Sizzix is an exciting new adventure for her brand.
Her debut collection launches in May 2024 and features designs across a range of Sizzix Thinlits® dies, stamps, stencils and 3D Embossing technologies which personify Catherine’s celebrated signature style. Q&A with CATHERINE pOOLER
How would you describe the Catherine Pooler aesthetic and how did you develop your style?
The Catherine Pooler Designs aesthetic is all about fun! I love whimsical illustrations and projects that make people smile. I am overjoyed when my projects actually make people giggle with delight! I’m also all about bright, vibrant color palettes which work perfectly with my design style. I love every little reason to celebrate and enjoy life, and my collections reflect that!
When did you discover your passion for all things craft?
My first introduction to crafting was through the hobby of sewing with my mom. I sewed a pair of light green pants with a tie at the waste when I was in second grade. I fell on the playground the first time I wore them and got grass stains on the knees. I never wore them again, but I remember being so proud of those pants!
Over the years, I’ve dabbled in so many crafts, but once I found stamping and scrapbooking, I knew I'd found my passion! The first time I inked a stamp and put it to paper, I was instantly obsessed with all things ink and stamps!
Who/What are your inspirations and how do they inform the product collections you've created for Sizzix?
The world around me is my inspiration! The Catherine Pooler Designs Debut Collection for Sizzix was created after being with my family on a trip to Costa Rica. The jungle foliage, monkeys and resort and poolside imagery all played a part in this collection!
What's your favorite crafting technique?
I can’t ever get enough of Emboss Resist Techniques! Heat embossing, then ink blending over it to reveal the image just never gets old for me!
What advice would you give beginner crafters who are just starting to discover paper crafts?
Start simple. Pick stamps and dies that catch your eye but go together and offer a variety of images and sentiments.
All of our collections come with suggested color palettes so you can use that to get started with choosing a few inks. Our collections are all created to go together perfectly, which makes choosing products and creating projects easy!
