Queen Elizabeth II memorial card
Due to a high volume of customer requests, our amazing designer Pete Hughes has shared how to create a memorial piece to honour her late Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II. As the nation mourns the loss of Britains longest reigning monarch, we thought we could share how to make a memorial tribute from home.
You will need:
- A4 Black Cardstock
- A4 White Cardstock
- Stencil Film
- Craft Knife
- Makers Tape
- Distress Inks
- Adhesive Foam Tape
How to make:
- Here we've used a printer to print the base card/text. Print it onto an A4 sheet of white card and trim to size. The front of the card measures 145 x 170mm.
- Print the template containing the two Union Jack flags onto stencil film before cutting across the centre.
- Use a craft knife and steel ruler to cut away the red parts of one of the flags, and the blue parts of the other. You now have two stencils.
- If possible, apply the 'red' stencil to the face of the base card. Use Makers tape to hold it in position.
- Apply Distress Inks through the red stencil. fade the colours out towards the perimeter. Here we've used a blend of Candied Apple and Spiced Marmalade.
- With the stencil in place drip some spots of clean water onto the inked image and allow to dry. Once dry, apply and ink pad directly onto a craft mat and spritz with clean water. Use a palette knife to 'flick' spots of the colour over the red artwork.
- Once the spots have dried. Carefully position the 'blue' stencil and repeat steps 4 -6. Here we've used Tumbled Glass and Mermaid's Kiss Distress ink for the blue blend.
- Print the silhouette onto card and carefully cut around the outside with a craft knife. Use a black ink pad around the edges where the white card shows through and mount onto the base card using adhesive foam tape.
