Cutting:
- Cut centre panel and reverse piece as above.
- Assorted fabrics – Cut 328 triangles using the isosceles triangle on the die:
- Plain mint – 82
- Mint flower – 82
- Pink spotty – 55
- Pink flower – 55
- Pink gingham - 54
- Binding – cut fabric strips 2 1/2" wide and join together to make a continuous strip to desired length to fit around (approximately 174").
How to Assemble:
- Decide how you want to arrange your fabrics and piece two strips of 65 triangles to fit along the length of the centre panel and two strips of 11 to fit the width. If you are forming a repetitive pattern remember to allow for one extra triangle to form the corner.
- Attach one extra triangle to the end of the long strip with the point facing towards the corner of the centre panel. (See figure 1).
- Sew the long strip to the centre panel RS together, but stop stitching 1/4" before the corner.
- Sew the first narrow strip to the short end of the panel and stop short of the long side and sew the last triangle on the strip to the corner ‘extra’ triangle. Once attached, finish sewing the seams to complete the corner.
- Repeat with the other two sides, adding one extra triangle in each corner.
- Using the first round as a guide, piece another set of strips to the required length, using 67 for each long side and 13 for the short side. The corner piece on the second round is made up of three triangles. This should be allowed for when piecing the four strips.
- To form the corner piece on this round requires three triangles arranged with the base of the centre triangle facing the centre panel. This will attach to the ‘extra’ triangle on the first round. (See figure 2.)
- Complete as for first round.
- Layer backing, RS down, cotton wadding and bed runner top RS up and pin or tack through all layers.
- Hand or machine quilt as desired.
- Make the binding by joining the 2 1/2" strips together to make a continuous strip to fit around the runner (approximately 174"). Fold in half lengthways WS together and press. Stitch in place, neatly mitring the corners.
- Fold the binding over and neatly hand sew into place.
