Other Supplies: Fabric 1 - 1.7m plain cream, Fabric 2 - 25cm plain navy, Fabrics 3-6 - 30cm x 15cm each contrasting colours and prints, Fabric 7 - 15cm x 5cm in gold print, Fusible web - 40cm x 60cm , Wadding - 95cm x 75cm, Thread for appliqué and quilting
Notes: All fabrics are 110cm wide unless otherwise stated. Seam allowance is 6mm (1/4"). All fabrics are cotton. RS - right side. WS - wrong side
Cutting:
- Cut the fusible web to fit the fabrics used for the Christmas Trees and Stars and fuse to the WS of the fabrics.
- Using the machine, die-cut the following from these:
- Fabrics 3-6 and the Christmas Tree die (661732), die-cut 2 large and 2 small trees from each of the fabrics.
- Fabric 7 - cut 5 stars out.
- Fabric 1 - cut one 90cm x 70cm for back of quilt. One 67cm x 70cm for quilt front. Using the 2 1/2" Strips die (658328) and XL 25" Cutting Pads, die-cut 2 strips that are 110cm long.
- Fabric 2 - cut one 25cm x 20cm for quilt front. Using 2 1/2" Strips die and plates, die-cut 3 strips that are 42cm long.
- Stitch the navy and cream fronts, RS together.
- Using the photo as a guide, arrange the Christmas trees along the blue fabric (there may be spare fabric which can be used to cut more out if desired).
- Fuse the trees in place and stitch.
- Fuse and stitch the stars to the tops of the large trees.
- Layer the backing, RS down with the wadding and quilt top, RS up, and pin or tack together.
- Quilt as desired.
- Stitch the blue binding strips, RS together, into one long strip.
- Fold in half along the length, WS together, and press the fold.
- Pin the blue binding to the quilt, to match the blue on the quilt, mitre the corners.
- Stitch the cream binding strips, RS together, into one long strip.
- Fold in half along the length, WS together, and press the fold.
- Pin the cream binding around the rest of the quilt, mitre corners and overlap ends with the blue binding.
- Stitch in place.
- Press the binding away from the quilt top, fold over to the back and slip stitch to the backing to complete the quilt.
