To Make Flowers:

1.For each rose you will need 4 small flower die cuts and 4 large using the Asian Flower Die.
2.Trim wire to desired height. Then, from an artificial flower, pull away the base leaves carefully.
3.Pinch and press a crease vertically down each petal on all 8 flowers using the tweezers.
4.Starting with a small flower die cut, trap one side edge of a petal with tweezers and curl inwards to meet the other.  Secure with glue.
5.Wrap adjacent petal around this ‘bud’ formation and secure with glue near bottom of petal.  Repeat with other 2 petals.
6.One inner flower piece has been formed, you can start building outwards.  Glue bud to centre of another small flower die cut and repeat step 5.  The flower will look more realistic if the petals sit between each other.
7.Once small flowers have been glued, continue outwards with the large flowers.
8.At this stage, poke a hole through centre to reverse using a sharp tool and thread through top end of the wire.  You don’t want the wire to be seen so keep it low in the bud.
9.Thread the artificial leaves onto other end of wire and glue into position at base of flower.  This will keep flower, leaves and wire intact.
10.Lastly, pinch the ends of each petal horizontally, starting with the outside petals, and curl over to give a natural effect.

For a shabby chic effect, make up your flowers with newsprint or patterned card.  You could also back vintage fabrics or old net curtains with card using Stix2 double sided adhesive sheets.

Our favourite flower of the bunch is the distressed metallic flower using Tim Holtz distress inks.  We backed old netting with white card using double sided sticky sheet then rubbed over the inks lightly using a sponge applicator.  We then shaped the edges of the petals using a ball end stylus and finally pressed gold craft foil onto the exposed sticky areas in between.  We love the effect!
