In today’s instalment of our machine series, we spoke to designer Jess to find out why the Sizzix Sidekick is her favourite machine!

The Sidekick is a portable crafting system, designed specifically for detailed dies and embossing folders up to 2 1/2” wide. Ideal for scrapbooking, cardmaking, home décor and event planning. The Sidekick Starter Kit allows you to start making from the go; including 6 Framelites dies, 2 Thinlits dies, 2 small Textured Impressions Embossing Folders and 7 Stamps, and includes a three-year limited warranty!

Here’s what Sizzix designer Jess had to say about making with the Sidekick!

What can be made with this machine?

The Sidekick will cut a single sheet of lightweight-to-cardstock paper, and is ideal for scrapbooking, cardmaking, home décor, party, event and wedding planning! It is the smallest machine; therefore, only small dies can be cut or embossed.

What do you like most about this machine?

It is a portable and affordable papercraft cutting system which has a vacuum seal that secures it to the surface when cutting. Can be used with Sizzix Triplits, Framelits, Thinlits and it also embosses. I also love that this machine is sold with small cutting plates and a variation of Framelits, Thinlits, Embossing Folders and stamps so you can get making straight away!

What are your favourite accessories or tools that you use with this machine?

A die brush and a die pick are always useful to have when using any small intricate dies. When it comes to removing excess paper from dies, the Sizzix Die Brush does it easily and ergonomically.

From experience, what is one top tip you would give other makers?

Due to the size of this machine you should cut your card or paper stock small enough for the die used, as the die bed is narrow.

Finally, what is your favourite make created with this machine?

My favourite make is this framed photo using the Sizzix Great Outdoors Thinlits Die Set, made by Katie Skilton. This home décor project is perfect for a new home present!
