I made a framed project a few weeks back featuring this die but I couldn't just leave it at that so here's one for all the card makers. The die I am using is new from Tim Holtz and is the Thinlits Paper-Cut Bird (661800). it was a very popular choice on a recent Hochanda show and this card features one of the demos that I did.
After die-cutting the bird from pale grey card I am using two colours of Distress Inks namely, Wild Honey and Crushed Olive to apply a little random colour. Next I rolled out a little gesso with a brayer. It is important that the gesso applied is quite patchy so less is definitely more in this case. You could also use chalk paint or acrylic in place of the gesso.
After attaching the die-cut bird to a rectangle of deep grey card I trimmed around the perimeter with a paper trimmer before attaching to the face of a pale grey base card at a slight angle. Next, I trimmed the bird/rectangle to match the outline of the base card using a craft knife. Finally, I stamped my sentiment onto pale grey card before trimming to size and mounting onto the base card.
This is another one of those techniques which looks advanced but is painfully simple to achieve stunning results every time.
Thanks for stopping by, see you all soon
