Hello! Welcome to my first ever Sizzix Blog! I'm really excited to show you my favourite designs and techniques. Easter is around the corner and it's time to start thinking about how we might celebrate.
Let's be honest, we're all mainly thinking about chocolate! But Easter is a great opportunity to show our nearest and dearest we are thinking of them. Hand made cards are a great way of going that extra mile in showing we care.
Anyone who watched last year's make off will know I love children's book illustrations, So here is a lovely Easter card idea, with an illustrated look.
I began by cutting two rectangles of white card. They should be big enough to frame the egg Framelit die element from the Layered Spring (664358) set.
Next I used the Framelit die to cut from the centre of one of the pieces of card.
I love to use soluble dye inks to create soft colour in my makes and this works perfectly if you are going for an illustrated style. I used a scrap piece of card to create a mask. Using green and blue ink, I created sky and grass.
Once inked, one spray with a water bottle will create a blotted effect which just adds some interesting detail to the scene.
Foam tape is great for lifting elements of your design and adding dimension to your make. I will later use it so add my sentiments.
I chose Sizzix card stock in Ballet slipper to stamp my sentiments on using black stamping ink and Sizzix stamps. Stamp on the smooth side of the card to get a solid print.
And there we have it! - A simple, effective design for your illustrated easter card.
