DIY Fabric Keychains
This is Jasleen of Happily Ever Crafter, and it’s my turn to share a new make with you all today. I’m sharing a couple of DIY keychain ideas using the recently released Sizzix Bigz die- Evergreen and Sizzix Bigz die-Vintage Butterfly.
Products used :-
Felt Fabric-White, green
Printed Fabric Tape
Needle and Thread
I like working with Felt, be it for making cute embellishments for our craft projects, or adding texture to the handmade cards. I saw some tiny cute felt stuffed animals in a local store a few months ago and I thought it would be great to make some felt accessories or keychains with the help of dies. And Bigz dies are excellent to use with felt or any kind of fabric for that matter.
So I started by creating a sandwich with the Bigz Evergreen die – cutting plate>> felt fabric>>>Bigz Die >>cutting plate on the top, and ran this arrangement through the Big shot Express machine.
I did this twice- to obtain white and green Christmas tree die cuts.
Then, I carefully placed them one over the other and started stitching the two pieces together. If you are a paper crafter like me, don’t get scared when I say ‘stitching’ ;) ….I’m not at all into stitching but doing this is really very simple. Doesn’t matter if you don’t have a sewing machine, you can easily do some simple stitching by hand using a needle and a thread, just like I did here.
I stitched the pieces together and left an opening just enough to stuff some cotton inside, to give it a fluffy appearance. After stuffing, I stitched it close.
Then I attached the ribbon alongwith the keyring on the top and finally embellished this cute fluffy little tree with some pearls.
I made another keychain using Sizzix Bigz die- Vintage Butterfly, in a similar manner; the only difference is that here I used a denim fabric from a discarded pair of jeans ;) Yayy to recycling!
This would make for a cute bag accessory too !
So what do you think about this simple DIY idea? I think I’m going to come up with more such ideas in my upcoming posts. ;)
Thanks for visiting today. Have a great week!
