I recently purchased a plain canvas drawstring bag from a craft store and since this week, we are showcasing fashion-themed creations using dies, I thought it would be a great idea to try and give it a makeover.

So, here’s how I went about decorating it:

Decorating a plain canvas bag-steps 1-2-3-4

Step 1 and 2:

I wanted to have some kind of text on my bag and for that, I decided to use the Sizzix® Thinlits™ Die Set 28PK - Delicate Letters to make some temporary stencils that read – Love, Laugh, Live and painted some black acrylic colour through it with the help of a paint brush. Stencils were made from card stock.

Step 3:

I kept it aside to let it dry for a while. Meanwhile, I die cut some floral pieces using the felt fabric sheets in different colours like pink, white, yellow, teal and green with the help of the recently released Sizzix® Bigz™ Die - Flower, Heart & Soul. This die set contains four different floral patterns in varied shapes and sizes that can be assembled or used individually to make some pretty flowers with leaves. Bigz dies are excellent for cutting not just paper, but also fabric like felt, which most of us crafters love using on our craft projects. :)

Step 4:

After the paint was dry, I assembled the felt die cuts to make some flowers and added the button, pearls and sequins to give it a more home-spun look.  I used fabric glue to stick all the embellishments to the bag.

Whenever I’m done making any of my craft projects and if my 4 year old daughter says “It’s mine now”, I take it as a cue that it has turned out pretty ;)

What do you think? I hope you feel inspired to try it yourself.  Lovely gifting option for young girls.

Thanks for visiting. Have a beautiful week! :)
