How to make:
- Begin by applying a layer of gesso to the surface of a 15cm MDF Bauble Blank (or a circular MDF panel) and allow to dry.
- Apply a layer of Antique Linen Distress Paint over the gessoed surface and again heat dry the painted surface or dry naturally. Once the surface is thoroughly dry, take a paint brush and dip it into a small amount of Picket Fence Distress Paint. Remove the excess paint onto a dry paper towel and with the remaining paint left on the brush, dry brush the surface of the bauble.
- Once again allow the paint to dry and then repeat step 2 but this time using Pumice Stone Distress Paint.
- Ink up a script background stamp with Hickory Smoke Archival Ink and randomly stamp the script onto areas of the painted background before gently heat setting the ink with a heat gun.
- Apply a small amount of Crackle Paste over random areas of the painted surface and allow to dry. Once it is dry, and the crackles have appeared take the Walnut Stain Distress Crayon and apply some colour to the accentuate the crackles, using a water brush to blend out any harsh lines of colour.
- Place the Sparkle Mini Layering stencil from Set 44 onto the surface of the painted bauble and using a palette knife, apply Crackle Paste through the stencil.
- Whilst the paste is still wet, sprinkle gold embossing powder over the top and set aside until the paste is dry before using a heat gun on a gentle setting to melt the embossing powder. Do not overheat the paste as this will bubble it.
- Die cut 8 branches and two pinecones from Mixed Media Card using the Pine Branches Die Set. Taking the branches, begin to colour them by first spritzing them with Peeled Paint Distress Stain Spray and dry the surface. Add a further layer of colour by spritzing with Iced Spruce and Forest Moss Distress Oxide Spray and then mist with a little water, allowing the inks to blend. Heat dry and then finish with a final light misting of Iced Spruce Distress Spray Stain and once again, dry thoroughly.
- To add some icy sparkle to the branches, use your fingertip to smear each branch with Matte Collage Medium before sprinkling Rock Candy Distress Glitter over the top. Tap away the excess glitter and set to one side.
- To colour the pine cones, add a layer of Walnut Stain Distress Paint over the top of each die cut piece, dry and then using the end of a paint brush, randomly dab some Gathered Twigs over the painted surface. Mount the painted die cut cones onto a piece of kraft card and carefully cut around the outline. Smear some Collage Medium over the cones and sprinkle with Rock Candy Distress Glitter. Allow to dry.
- Using green card stock, die cut and assemble four Mistletoe pieces and 2 spiky branches using the dies from the Large Funky Festive Set. To create the berries, apply small dots of Tonic Nuvo Crystal Drops to each of the little berries sections on the die cut and place to one side to set.
- Place the foliage and the cones on a craft sheet and taking a splatter brush, very gently splatter a small amount of Picket Fence Distress Paint across the die cut pieces, to create the look of snow.
- Once the paint is dry, adhere all the foliage pieces, together with the pine cones onto the MDF bauble and attach them using a hot glue gun, placing and arranging them to fan out from the top of the bauble.
- To create the word 'Noel' die cut the letter four times from Mixed Media card and then layer them over the top of one another to create dimensional lettering. Paint each letter with Candied Apple Distress Paint, heat dry and then dry brush Black Soot over the top.
- Once the painted letters are dry, dab them with the Clear Versamark Ink Pad and sprinkle clear embossing powder over the top. Heat emboss each letter until the powder becomes molten and glossy.
- Attach the letters directly onto the MDF blank using Matte Collage Medium and after inking the edges of a Christmas Clipping sticker using Walnut Stain Distress Ink, place the sticker sentiment below the Noel.
- Attach 7 gold gems around the lettering.
- Cut a long length of white seam binding ribbon and spritz with Aged Mahogany Distress Spray Stain. Scrunch the strip and heat dry to create a crinkled piece of ribbon.
- Cut a piece of the ribbon and thread through the hole at the top of the MDF bauble to create a hanging loop. Tie the remaining length of ribbon into a triple looped bow and attach a button to the centre using twine to secure the button into place. Attach the bow at the top of the foliage.
Thank you so much for stopping by today and see you again soon,
