A Christmas Surprise!
At Sizzix, We are delighted to share another project with you using the Toyland Colorize Thinlits from Tim Holtz, Sizzix Chapter 4 Christmas release.
An imaginative project perfect for Christmas! The make is a Vintage style Christmas card with a hidden surprise, behind the circle door you can add gift cards for your loved ones, with an original cardmaking design!
Here is a step by step guide to how you make this inspirational card!
You will need:
Tim Holtz Idea-ology Christmas Paper Stash Pad
Tim Holtz Idea-ology Classic KraftStock
Tim Holtz Kraft HeavyStock
Distress Collage Medium Matte
Step By Step:
Step 1: Trim the Idea-ology Christmas Paper to a 5” square and fix to white card of the same size. It is important that you only apply adhesive around the edges so that you can tuck the hidden surprise into the aperture later.
Step 2: Place the 3 ½” Circle Framelits die in the centre of the panel and hold in place with Sizzix Making Essentials Maker’s Tape. Place in your die-cutting machine leaving the top cutting plate about ¼” away from the left hand edge of the circle die which means the section of the die outside the plate will not cut, so creating a hinged circle opening on the front of the panel.
Step 3: Use the same die to cut 2 circles from contrasting paper and fix inside the aperture and use to cover the back of the hinged opening trimming off the excess at the fold. Use the 2 ½” die from the set to cut contrasting paper to decorate the front. Punch holes on the hinged opening and side of the panel. Create a 5.1/2” square top folding card from Tim Holtz Kraft HeavyStock and fix the panel in place with Distress Collage Medium Matte.
Step 4: Apply Sizzix Making Essentials Adhesive Sheet to the back of Idea-ology Classic KraftStock and sand to create a vintage look.
Step 5: Next arrange the Toyland Colorize dies on the colours you have selected for each element.
Step 6: Once you have die-cut each piece, assemble them following the indent marks that the dies create on the card.
Step 7: Fix the candy cane, parcel and teddy bear to the sack. Also fix the Sizzix Making Essentials Adhesive sheet to the back of white card and die-cut the sentiment using the Alphanumeric Tiny Text Upper Thinlits. Then remove the adhesive backing and fix around the edge of the circle and on to the sack.
