Light 'em Up!

_DSC5723We introduced the lantern box die to the world on the Hochanda shopping channel last week and guess what.....it sold out!

Not surprising really as it is super versatile, you can use it as a favour box or as a lantern by adding a battery operated tea light, great for summer garden parties and outdoor weddings.

The dies I'm using are....

  • Sizzix Bigz L Die - Lantern Box by Tim Holtz (661818)
  • Sizzix Thinlits Die Set 4PK - Mixed Media by Tim Holtz (660220)

All the paints used are from Decoart Media Fluid Acrylics Collection.

FotorCreated11After die-cutting the box from mid-grey card I creased it along all the embossed fold lines. Next, I used a brayer to apply black paint. Once the paint had dried I applied some Raw Sienna acrylic with a paper towel by dragging it in a downward motion across the lantern.

I applied some Payne's Grey acrylic with a paper towel and while it was still wet I sprinkled on some Distress Embossing Powder (Vintage Photo) and set it with a heat tool. Finally, I applied some English Red Oxide again using a paper towel.

FotorCreated2After die-cutting the hexagonal detail into silver card I distressed it a little with some of the acrylics before trimming to size and mounting behind the lantern windows. Treasure Pewter gilding wax is the finishing touch to many of my mixed media makes and it's a perfect fit here too.

There is so much more that you can do with this die and hopefully I can show you in the not too distant future.

Thanks for stopping by See you all soon.
