Hello everyone. I've really been enjoying using my Sizzix Big Shot Plus over the last few days. I think I tried just about every die I was sent until I was happy with how everything worked. I wasn't sure what to share with you for my first craft until my children asked what I was doing. They love to craft as much as me and were intrigued by the Sizzix Big Shot Plus. They looked at all the dies that covered the table, all the pretty papers I had out and wanted to see how it worked.
I let them choose a die and some paper so I could show them. With Mother's Day (hopefully!) on their mind as it is celebrated in the UK soon, they chose the Sizzix Bigz Die - Heartfelt (660233) which is already one of my favourites.
I made lots of hearts for them, using paper doilies, foam sheets, glitter card and even cellophane sheets. All these cut out hearts led to an idea for my first post! A simple heart sun catcher using the Heartfelt set by Tim Holtz.
I placed the Heartfelt Bigz Die on a sheet of red cellophane and placed it between the two Cutting Pads. It made 11 different shaped hearts.
I took a white paper plate and cut out the central section, covering one side with a circle of contact paper which just overlapped the cut out. Then my 5 year old son placed the cellophane cut outs on the sticky contact paper.
When he had finished I placed another circle of contact paper over the sticky side to seal the hearts. We punched a hole at the top and threaded some ribbon to hang it up in the window.
It makes a really simple sun catcher and is a lovely way to use the Sizzix Bigz Heartfelt die. I would be happy to receive this on Mothers' Day!
Have a great weekend!
